LUKOIL SRBIJA has decided to help equip and reconstruct The Church of St. John the Baptist in Mokra Gora. After the completion of works on this church built in 2011 on the Bela vode springs, on the left bank of the Kameљine River, normal liturgical life will be possible once again.
By now, the iconostasis has been erected and painted, the bell tower has been decorated, two bells have been placed and their electrification has been carried out, and a candle and souvenir has been opened.
Not far from the famous Sargan 8 is the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah which was erected in 1945 as a wooden church. The church has been given a new attire with the installation of behaton boards, which arranged the path which had previously been in poor condition. The old parish house has been demolished and foundations have been poured over which a new wooden parish will be built by October, which will further beautify the portal. The house will be built in the Russian style and will be used as a place of worship.
The Mokra Gora parish priest Nenad Rosić has pointed out that a memorial plaque with the names of the Russian prisoners who lost their lives building the Sargan 8 railway has also been ordered. The erection of a Russian Chapel of the Seven Sleepers of Ephesus, located in the village of Jatarica in Mokra Gora, is also planned.
