MARCH FESTIVAL WITH THE SUPPORT OF LUKOIL SRBIJA

​In today’s press conference it was communicated that the Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival, with the support of LUKOIL SRBIJA AD, will be held from 30 March - 2 April in the Belgrade Youth Centre. 

Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Festival Committee, Mr. Andreja Mladenović, recalled that this is 64th anniversary of this event, which makes it one of the oldest European festivals. 

– We are exceptionally proud that Belgrade hosts this Festival that has survived all these years and decades, while this is the second year in a row that the Festival is held under the auspices of LUKOIL SRBIJA - Mladenović emphasised in the press conference at the Old Palace, and added that this year the Festival will include several novelties, which will also contribute to the Festival quality.

The Acting Secretary of Culture of the City of Belgrade, Ms Ivona Jevtić, emphasised that this year the City of Belgrade allocated RSD 6 million for the March Festival. She reiterated that the March Festival is the oldest film event in the Serbian Capital.

– The Festival makes a true platform for the support to the authors of films of high artistic quality, thus enhancing the domestic film production. So far, more than 150 films have been submitted, and the contest is open until 27 February – specified the Secretary of Culture. 

The Company representative, Mr. Ivan Brajović, Deputy Director of Delivery and Logistics highlighted: - The importance of this event and tradition have made it necessary to support one more time, within the cooperation with the City of Belgrade, this event that represents a differential value of our Capital City.

The Art Director of the March Festival, Mr. Boban Jevtić, announced that this year the Festival will be marked by full-day workshops, debates and concerts with the aim of connecting people within this artistic profession. 

This festival was held for the first time within the Festival of Yugoslav Film in the Pula Arena back in 1954. After six years, the Festival moved to Belgrade, where it was held for the first time 4-9 March 1960. Under the name Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival it was organised for the first time in 2004.
